Office of the Legal Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal

Purpose

As Legal Advisor to the Vice Chancellor and Principal, the Legal Advisor provides leadership in all University matters with legal implications, to enable the University to achieve its statutory mandate viz, teaching and learning, research and innovation and community outreach. The Office of the Legal Advisor performs the following functions:

1. Provide comprehensive legal consultation and advise on all legal aspects affecting the University.
2. Manages all aspects of risk emanating from legal processes including litigation for or against the University.
3. Advises the Vice Chancellor and handles correspondence on Higher Education matters, in particular policy matters and legislation.
4. Manages the security of all legal documents.
5. Drafts and also ensures that all contracts and Memoranda of Understanding are drafted favourably for the University such that all risk aspects are mitigated.

Structure of the Office

The office of the Legal Advisor  consist of the following administrative staff  members:

2. Executive Secretary to the Legal Advisor - Adv. M I Netangaheni ( B IURIS; RDV HONS;  LLB (Univen))
