Experience:

Dr. Gwata has more than 10 years experience in research and development at national, regional and international level. He worked in the field of soybean genetic improvement at the Crop Breeding Institute (Harare, Zimbabwe) and subsequently joined the International Crops Research Institute for Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) focusing on the genetic enhancement of legumes (pigeonpea and chickpea). Currently, his major research interests are crop genetic improvement with special emphasis on legume genetic enhancement (N2-fixation biochemistry, wide hybridization, stress tolerance and value-addition).
