About Us

The department focuses on training students who intend to qualify as educators to meet the requirements of the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) in various learning areas and subjects, and who will implement their methodological knowledge and skills of teaching at: Further Education and Training (FET) band in the B.ED-FET and PGCE programmes. The PGCE offers methodologies for Science subjects, Languages, Management Sciences and Life Orientation subjects.  The department also houses the Educational foundations modules which include: Philosophy of Education, Sociology of Education, Psychology of Education and History of Education at undergraduate levels for teacher trainees to cope with the needs of the community at large. This Department also upgrades qualifications of teachers through NPDE.
