About the Dean

Prof. Lunic Base Khoza
B Cur (Nursing Education and Community Health Nursing), Hons B Cur (Nursing Education), Mcur (Nursing Education), Dlitt et Phil

Base Khoza is appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Venda. She is currently serving as Acting Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Head of Department of Advanced Nursing Science. She obtained her first degree B Cur in 1986, Honours B Cur in 1988, Masters Curationis in 1990 and Dlitt et Phil in 1996, all with UNISA. She in possession of Advanced Diploma in Strategic Human Resource Management certificate completed with UNISA.  She worked as a tutor and manager of a nursing school at Letaba Hospital for 10years and as nursing service manager for 5 years. In 1995 she was appointed as lecturer by University of the North (University of Limpopo) and served 6 years of employment. As a lecturer she was interested in teaching Ethos and Professional practice, General nursing science, Research, nursing Education and nursing Management Dynamics. Her research focus areas are as follows: Competence of newly qualification nurses; Organizational Cultures, its impact on Newly Qualified Nurses; Problems affecting learning by first year nursing students, Health risks behaviours; the adolescent and HIV/AIDS. She is a member of Forum of Universities Nursing Departments in Southern Africa (FUNDISA). She is Chair of Higher Education HIV/AIDS coordinating Committee of HEAIDS Programme. Currently representing University at the South African Committee of Heath Sciences Deans (SACOHCD).
