Welcome to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SH&SS). The SH&SS offers liberal arts education to students at both undergraduate and post graduate levels with an opportunity for broad exposure to education in the humanities and social sciences.

As Dean of the School, I am delighted to share the excitement and pride that each of us enjoys in being part of the SH&SS. The SH&SS includes disciplines of language, literature, history, philosophy, political Sciences, International Relations, Religion, Anthropology, Sociology, Social Work, Music, Linguistics, Media,  Arts and Culture which  all deal with  multiple dimensions of the human experience.

Part of my objectives includes improving the quality of our offerings and increased national visibility predicated on the development of researchers and scholars in Humanities and Social Sciences. Knowledge in the humanities and Social Sciences areas can be integrated across many areas throughout a students’ life, as well as prepare them to make positive contributions to their community and their workplace. Liberal arts education helps students to strengthen their analytical and problem-solving skills, independent thinking, acceptance of new ideas, as well as understanding other cultures and peoples in a globalised world.

The SH&SS is committed to live out  its vision, mission and mandate in order to comply with and fulfill  the mandate of UNIVEN as a quality driven, financially sustainable, rural-based, comprehensive university
