The Council for the South African Society for Atmospheric Sciences (SASAS) unanimously agreed at its annual conference in October 2016 to confirm the University of Venda as the host for the 2017 annual conference.

The aim of SASAS is to stimulate interest and support for all branches of the atmospheric sciences, both in South Africa and in the broader context, including the rest of Africa. This main aim is achieved through encouragement of research and education in the atmospheric sciences. This is achieved by collaboration between organisations and institutions interested in the science of the atmosphere.

The theme for this 33rd annual conference of SASAS is “Challenges of a warming planet” and it will be held at Protea Hotel Ranch Resort in Polokwane from 21-22 September 2017.
