Vision
CHETL strives to be a centre of excellence in conducting programmes and offering services that are responsive to the learning and teaching needs of students and staff.
Mission
Within the framework of the University’s Vision and Mission, the Centre for Higher Education Teaching and Learning provides quality programmes and services to staff and students so as to optimize their abilities to realize the full outcomes of learning and teaching in higher education.
Role / Mandate
The Centre for Teaching and Learning exists to initiate, coordinate and
promote programmes and services which are intended to address the challenges
facing academics and students in achieving expected outcomes of teaching
and learning in higher education.

of Learning (University of Fort Hare), Bachelor of Education (University
of Zimbabwe), Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and Training
for Academics (University of Fort Hare), Post Graduate Diploma in Higher
Education for Educational Developers (Rhodes University) Mater of Education.

Dr Ndebele joined academic development in 2006 as a Language and Writing Consultant in the Teaching and Learning Centre at the University of Fort Hare. He rose through the ranks to a Teaching Development Consultant in 2007, Manager: Teaching Development Unit in 2008 and Acting Director: Teaching and Learning Centre in 2009 before moving to the University of Venda to operationalise an Academic Development Unit in the Centre for Higher Education Teaching and Learning (CHETL)
Research interests: Curriculum studies, academic staff development, Teaching
and learning in higher education
