Univen Women excel at the Women in Science Awards

Mrs Makgoshi Priscilla Masipa, who is a lecturer in the School of Agriculture: Department of Family Ecology and Consumer Sciences, was announced as the over-all winner of the 2010 Women in Science Awards. Lufuno Mavhandu, a PhD student in the School of Mathematical and Natural Sciences won the TATA Africa scholarship for South African Women in Science. more

School of Environmental Sciences establishes ‘Ecorat’ students research projects

In a follow-up to the 4th International Conference on Rodent Biology and Management (ICRBM) in Bloemfontein, the ‘Ecorat team’ from Plant Protection Research Institute (PPRI) were invited by Professors Rod Baxter and Peter Taylor to act as external advisors to four, fourth year students. On Thursday, 5 August 2010 and Friday, 6 August 2010 Dr. Hermann, the representative of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visited UNIVEN. The purpose of the visit was to inform members of the University about funding opportunities for postgraduate studies and collaborative research. more

The University of Venda Students Living with Disabilities Benefit from National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)

One hundred and ten students living with disabilities from the University of Venda received 96 laptops, 10 electronic Scooters and 4 electronic wheelchairs from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme as part of their bursary on Friday, 06 August 2010. more

Univen to benefit from Netherlands funding

Univen, together with the University of Limpopo and the University of Fort Hare secured a €1,6 million (R17,6million) funding from the Netherlands for the “Capacity strengthening in teaching and facilitated experiential collective innovation at the three previously disadvantaged universities” project. more

New international relations coordinator for Univen

Mr Cornelius Hagenmeier has been appointed as the international relations coordinator for Univen. “The new International Relations Office will provide a first port of call, both for Univen staff and students engaging in international missions as well as for foreign visitors to the University,” says Hagenmeier. “Internationalisation has become a high priority in contemporary South African higher education. Univen has responded by including this critical objective in its strategic plan. more
