Department of Jurisprudence

Adv Joubert is a lecturer. He is a former graduate of the University of Stellenbosch where he obtained his BA (Law) LLB and LLM degrees. He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa in 2001. He started his academic career back in 1998 at the University of Stellenbosch where he taught students in the foundational LLB programme. In that same year he was appointed as part time lecturer at the University of the Western Cape where he taught private law modules. He joined the University of Venda in January of 2007 and teaches modules in the Departments of Jurisprudence and Private Law. His teaching and research interests are in the following areas: Legal Research, Family Law, Customary Law and Human Rights.    

His hobbies include coaching track and field athletes and soccer at primary school level.
