Prof Dr Cornelis Roelofse

Biographical detail: Borne in the Southern Cape in South Africa and completed his high school education at Outeniqua High School in George.

Further education:  Done mainly by correspondence through Unisa. Completed BA; BA Hons; and MA  at the same university from 1976 to 1986. Completed the Management Development Program at the School for Business Leadership at Unisa and followed that with a two year study at the Rhema Bible Training Center.
Completed a PhD in Criminology at the University of Limpopo.

Experience: Worked mainly in the Safety and Security field as a police officer and industrial security expert and was the Security Manager for the first nuclear power plant in Africa and became the National Security Manager of Eskom. (Electricity generation and distribution).   He joined the Dept of Criminology at UL in 1994 and was elected to the Legislature of Limpopo in 1999 where he served until Dec 2003. Was a member of the Safety and Security portfolio committee of the Legislature.

Current Position: Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Criminal Justice at University of Venda and has published several research articles in peer reviewed journals papers and also a book on community policing
