Univen to Partner with Absa

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Venda, Prof P Mbati accompanied by Mr BL Makhado, the Univen Foundation Development Officer met with ABSA Executives on Monday, 28 June 2010 at Casa Toscana in Lynnwood, Pretoria. The purpose of the meeting was to build relationships with ABSA as a potential funder of Univen's 2025 campus Masterplan development.

ABSA was represented by Marlise van der Merwe (Absa Specialist: Public & Private Education), Fuad Adams (Relationship Executive), Tinyiko Shilenge (Group Marketing and Communications), Shiva Makotoko (Head Public Sector Banking), Edmund Jeneker (Regional Executive Northern Region), Mopai Mashatola (Manager Agri Banking) and Andre Kruger (Absa Infrastructure Funding). Absa expressed its willingness to assist the University and expressed its interests in the following areas - Agribusiness development, Infrastructure funding, Retail banking for both staff and students and Education.

ABSA agreed to work hard to show its visibility on campus. ABSA through Mr Fuad Adam (Relationship Executive) will put up a coordinating committee comprised of both Univen and ABSA representatives to work out the modalities of the partnership.

A follow-up meeting will be held before the 6th of August 2010.
