Univen meet Information Systems Electronics and Telecommunications (ISET)

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr JJ Zaaiman accompanied by Mr B.L. Makhado, Development Officer, Univen Foundation met with Mr Oupa Mopaki, Chief Executive Officer, who was accompanied by Mr Jabu Sibeko, Senior Manager learning Programmes. The meeting was held at the ISET Head Office, Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
The purpose of the meeting was to present the plight of Univen as a rural based University and to seek partnership with ISET.
Mr Oupa Mopak commended the route the University has embarked on to mobilise resources for the development of the University and committed to work with the University in opening doors to meet with other role players in the Information Communication Technology industry.
It was agreed that Univen will first have to be recognized as an Institute of Sectoral Occupational Excellence (ISOE) by ISET, The recognition will pave way for Univen to receive a grant to cover some if not all of the following: Educator/trainer up skilling, Curriculum and Material Development, Learner support initiatives opportunity by implementing end user computing learnership. (R10 000 per learner), Accreditation to roll out some of the ISET accredited courses
A separate meeting between Mr Charlton Philiso, Senior Manager: Education and Training Quality Assurance (ETQA) to explore partnership with the University will be arranged.
