A representative from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visits Univen

L-T: Mr Cornelius Hagenmeier, Coordinator: International Relations Office, Dr Ralf Hermann From German Academic Exchange Service (Daad) and Dr Jannie Zaaiman, Deputy Vice Chancellor Operations.
On Thursday, 5 August 2010 and Friday, 6 August 2010 Dr. Hermann, the representative of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visited UNIVEN. The purpose of the visit was to inform members of the University about funding opportunities for postgraduate studies (specifically at Masters and Doctoral Level) and collaborative research.
DAAD is the largest academic exchange organisation in the world. It is a joint establishment of German higher education institutions and promotes international academic co-operation. DAAD supports the worldwide exchange of international students, graduates, academics and scientists within the framework of more than 200 different programmes.
Two main functions took place in the course of the visit: on Thursday, 5 August 2010 Dr. Hermann addressed senior students (Masters, Honours and final year students in 4 year professional degree programmes) and interested academic staff members. He introduced those present to the work of the DAAD and the various funding opportunities offered by the DAAD for postgraduate studies. Those opportunities are of specific interest to all junior staff members seeking funding opportunities for Doctoral studies. The deadline for applications for some programmes, including the in-country scholarships, is 15 August 2010. Further information can be obtained from our International Relations Office.
On Friday, 6 August 2010 Dr. Hermann was meeting senior staff members interested in research collaborations with German universities and other funding opportunities offered by the DAAD.
