Staff from the Department of Communications and Marketing, friends, colleagues and family members gathered at the Council Chambers to bid farewell to Mrs Sharon Mashau.
The University of Venda (Univen) has on 06 November 2017 organized a farewell function for Mrs Sharon Mashau who was the Head in the Department of Communications and Marketing.

“In life, one needs to grow. I think I have learned as much as I needed,” said Mrs Sharon Mashau. Mrs Mashau added that like a bird, it is time for her to spread her wings. She said that she is not leaving Univen for good, she just need to learn other things, to explore a bit and to learn how other organisations’ corporate cultures are conducted. I believe this will add value to Univen when I come back. Mrs Mashau told the interns in the Department of Communications and Marketing to
use the skills that they are taught at Univen because what they are being taught is very valuable and will take them far.
“A team that is committed and dedicated makes the line manager to be competent.” She said working with a team which is committed at all times made her job easier. Mrs Mashau advised Communications and Marketing staff members to continue travelling on the same footprint as this will take this Department very far. She concluded by thanking Mr Dzaga for everything that he has taught her during her tenure at Univen.
Mr Takalani Dzaga, Director of Communications and Marketing said when Mrs Mashau joined Univen he thought she was coming to work for Univen until her retirement. “Little did I know that she will leave this University very soon.” Mr Dzaga added that the Communications and Marketing Department will never be the same without her. He advised her to always remember what he taught her. “

we are happy to have worked with you though you are leaving us unpredicted. Mr Dzaga thanked her for assuming leadership role even when he was away and he congratulated her for her new job. He further expressed his gratefulness and appreciation of the incomparable work performance and attitude she had displayed during her tenure at Univen. He concluded by expressing that she was such a valued team member.
