SpecialisationLaw of gases, Laws of thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, quantum mechanics and surface chemistry. My major research interests are experimental and computational chemistry: Study of the mechanism, effects, and prevention of corrosion of materials.
Research Interests
Corrosion of Materials, Adsorption studies, Reactions kinetics and Thermodynamics of solutions. The broad objective of this research group is to investigate the corrosion inhibition of mild steel, aluminium, zinc and copper metals in various acids and bases by some selected compounds and plant extracts, ionic liquids, quinoxaline derivatives, flavonoids derivatives, thiazolidinediones, synthesized carboxylic acids and amino esters, pyrazole derivatives, sulphonamides, sulphonyl amides derivatives, Lippia javanica, Helichrysum kraussii, Tapinanthus quequensis and others using weight loss, electrochemical measurements, spectroscopic methods, microscopic methods, and quantum chemical calculations.
Current & Recent Projects
- Corrosion mitigation of mild steel, zinc, and aluminum in acidic media using Tapinanthus quequensis plant extracts: Solvent variation and theoretical approaches (current).
- Synthesis and photoisomerization of cinnamoylated chloroquinolines and their applications as anticorrosives for selected metals in acidic media: experimental and computational approaches (recent).
- Computational and adsorption investigation of some quinoxaline derivatives on selected metals in acidic media” (recent).
Teaching Areas
- Lectures on Physical Chemistry at 2nd and 3rd years mainly on laws of gases, introduction to thermodynamics, reaction rates and advanced surface chemistry.
