This communique is intended to inform Members of the University Community that as per the Vice-Chancellor’s communique of 04 November 2020, the University of Venda will reopen on Monday 04 January 2021. As per our previous communiques, the University has designed a schedule for the completion of the 2020 academic year by 28 February 2021.
Following the address by the President of the Republic, Dr Cyril Ramaphosa, on Monday 28 December 2020 regarding the adjusted alert level 3 lockdown, the University Management has decided to prioritise the return of first year students to campus whilst waiting a directive from the Minister of Higher Education and Training on the numbers to be accommodated at adjusted level 3 lockdown. This implies that a communique will be issued about the return of other categories of students.
First level students
First level students are expected to return to campus from Monday 04 January 2021, in accordance with the schedule presented below:

Academic staff
All staff members teaching first level students should be back on campus from Monday 04 January 2021. Academic staff, teaching second and final level students will continue with remote teaching.
Administrative/Support staff
All administrative/support staff will be dealt with in accordance with UNIVEN COVID-19 Guidelines in relation to Adjusted Alert Level 3 National Regulations.
All staff and students who are returning to campus are always expected to comply with both campus protocols and COVID-19 measures for the purpose of protecting ourselves. All these measures are intended to protect us from contracting the virus and to ensure that the campus is open and operational for work, teaching and learning. Our main and primary goal is to protect the health and safety of staff, students, and our communities by mitigating the risks of spreading COVID-19.
