The atmosphere was filled with excitement and pride as Dr Livhuwani Tshikukuvhe, a lecturer in the Department of Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Heritage Studies at the University of Venda (UNIVEN), delivered an inspiring farewell message to Grade 7 learners of Mabilu Primary School on Friday, 07 November 2025, at Gondeni La ha Mabilu. The ceremony was a joyful yet emotional milestone, marking the end of the learners’ primary school journey and the beginning of a promising new chapter in high school.

Describing the occasion as “a celebration, a moment of pride, reflection, and transition,” Dr Tshikukuvhe applauded the learners for their perseverance and growth over the years. “You have spent years learning from Grade R, growing, laughing, and sometimes even stumbling. But every stumble taught you something. Every challenge made you stronger. And every success reminded you of your potential,” she said to enthusiastic applause.

Dr Tshikukuvhe shared four powerful life lessons to guide the learners as they step into high school. First, she urged them to believe in themselves, reminding them that greatness lies within each of them. “You are capable of greatness not because someone else says so, but because it lives inside you,” she said. Second, she encouraged them to stay curious and embrace learning as a lifelong adventure, exploring new subjects and talents across science, sports, music, and mathematics. Third, she emphasised the value of kindness, calling it their “superpower” that costs nothing but means everything. Lastly, she issued a firm warning against harmful behaviours such as substance abuse and early sexual activity, stressing that self-discipline and wise choices are key to achieving their dreams.

Expressing gratitude to the parents and teachers, Dr Tshikukuvhe commended their unwavering dedication to nurturing the learners’ potential. “You have planted seeds of wisdom and love that will continue to grow in these young hearts,” she said. She further encouraged parents to remain active in their children’s education by attending school meetings and supporting them daily.
