The University is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Ntobeko Mbuyisa as Manager of Academic Grants Administration, effective 1 April 2026.
In this pivotal role, Mr Mbuyisa will lead the coordination and administration of key Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) Earmarked Grants that support teaching and learning. These include the University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP) subprogrammes, the Foundation Provision Grant, and the Clinical Training Grant, all of which are critical to advancing academic excellence and student success.

Mr Mbuyisa brings extensive experience in higher education administration, with a strong track record across financial management, procurement, governance, compliance, and operational planning. His career reflects a deep understanding of complex institutional systems, having successfully overseen budget development, strategic planning processes, stakeholder engagement, and supplier and contract management.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree, a postgraduate qualification in Finance and Investment Management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has completed executive training in Design Thinking in Practice through the Hasso Plattner School of Design Thinking Afrika. He is also a member of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa.

Notably, he has demonstrated expertise in project and grant management, including coordinating research funding applications, managing disbursements, and ensuring accurate reporting to funders. His proficiency spans research administration, programme management, financial reporting, budget reconciliation, and the management of DHET-funded initiatives.

With this wealth of experience, Mr Mbuyisa is exceptionally well-positioned to strengthen the administration of Earmarked Grants, enhance compliance, and drive continued excellence in grants management.
