In a collaborative effort to uplift and empower emerging enterprises, the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Rapid Incubation (UCfERI) partnered with the University of Venda Community Business Advisory Centre (UCBAC) to conduct a targeted business support outreach at Makhado Crossing Mall in Louis Trichardt on 31 July 2025. The initiative formed part of UNIVEN’s broader strategy to foster inclusive economic development through practical business support for local entrepreneurs.

While most of the businesses are still in their early stages, they exhibited promising potential. However, several critical gaps were identified, particularly in areas such as business planning, financial management, marketing, compliance, and operational efficiency. Like many startups, these businesses face challenges including limited access to business development support, lack of structured growth strategies, and minimal exposure to entrepreneurial networks and resources.

During the outreach, the UCfERI team delivered tailored advice and practical solutions aimed at strengthening these businesses. Entrepreneurs received guidance designed to enhance their sustainability and long-term growth. As part of its continued support, UCfERI will enrol these businesses into its structured incubation programme, offering them access to mentorship, training opportunities, entrepreneurial networks, and ongoing development resources.
The outreach highlighted the critical importance of continuous engagement with local entrepreneurs to address the real-time challenges they face. UCBAC remains committed to supporting community-based businesses through advisory services that strengthen operational foundations and drive sustainability.
To expand its impact, UCBAC is exploring partnerships with the Makhado Municipality to broaden its reach and enhance resource sharing. Situated at Makhado Crossing Mall, UCBAC functions under the Directorate of Community Engagement, Entrepreneurship, Inclusive Innovation and Commercialisation (DCEEIIC), with a mandate to improve community access to entrepreneurial support and foster the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
