A delegation from the Higher Education Transformation Network (HETN) led by its Chairperson, Mr Lucky Thekisho, comprising Hendrick Makaneta, Spokesperson and Mr Jimmy Hlongwane visited the University of Venda recently. During the visit, the delegation had a very fruitful engagement with the Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Peter Mbati about amongst others the strategic direction of the University including the University achievements over the past ten years.

The Chairperson of the Higher Education Transformation Network, Mr Thekisho said that infrastructural developments and the stability at the University is so impressive and it demonstrates the type of leadership, which is highly commendable. “The University of Venda indeed has a very good story to tell, which is worth sharing with other institutions as part of benchmarking for best practice. We shall share what we have experienced at UNIVEN with the Minister for Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande”, said Mr Thekisho.

The brief meeting was followed by a campus tour to current and completed projects as well as staff housing project in Sibasa. “We really appreciate the good work that the University is doing and we encourage you to keep up the good work. We are committed to continue providing the necessary support to the University of Venda.” concluded Mr Thekisho. “All these had been possible because of the commitment of senior management team, staff and students as well as the support from our Council and the Minister for Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande”said Prof Mbati.
