Mr Ratshilumela Mulaudzi has been appointed as the University of Venda’s Director of Protection Services with effective from 01 July 2022. 

Mr Mulaudzi has a vast experience working in both public and private institutions. With over 17 years of experience gained from grassroots operations managing all aspects of security in both Public and Private sectors including institutions of higher learning. He was appointed a Security Manager for a new division at the University of Mpumalanga. His responsibilities in the early stages of his career included, among others, management in the following areas: Security Operations, Investigations, Security systems (Control Rooms), and Crowd control, Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, Events Coordination, Access control and information gathering. 

He is currently a PhD candidate in criminal justice specialising in Forensic Investigations at UNISA, and his research topic is titled: An analysis of the use of semen in litigation processes of rape cases in Venda (Vhembe District). 

Mr Mulaudzi’s formal qualifications include a Masters in Forensic Investigations and B-Tech in Forensic Investigations (UNISA); Honours in Criminology and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (UNIVEN). 

Before his appointment as Director Protection Services, Mr Mulaudzi was a Security Manager at the University of Mpumalanga; Independent Contractor (Part-time) at UNISA; Head of Security at UNIVEN; Regional Manager: Physical Security at the 

Department of Correctional Services; Control Room Operator at NECSA (Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa); National Control Room Supervisor at SONDOLO IT: National Control Room for DCS; Control Room Operator at SONDOLO IT: Makhado Correctional Centre; Control Room Operator at FIDELITY Nokul Security Services at Meropa Casino and Entertainment World and Tutoring Criminology and Policing Studies (work study programme) at UNIVEN. 

Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Dr Bernard Nthambeleni said Mr Mulaudzi’s notable skills and talents will be a great addition to the University’s Protection Services team and the University as a whole. Dr Nthambeleni expressed that he is excited to welcome him to the University of Venda. “We are certain that he will deliver results, excel and make us all proud”.
