Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) had organized their Annual General Meeting at the Emperors Palace on 20th October 2017 in style, to celebrate their success in fulfilling their mission and for having had a Clean Audit for 2016/2017.

The Directors of the Ceremony were Mr. Robert Semenya and Ms. Joyce Tsipa. The CETA Board Members headed by the Chairperson, Mr. Raymond Cele and the CETA Senior Management and members headed by the CEO, Ms. Sonja Pilusa ran the show. The occasion was opened by the CETA choir.

The Highlights of CETA performance for the year 2016/2017 were presented by CETA stakeholders:

 CETA Learner – Ms. Valessa Baadjes
 CETA Bursary Recipient – Ms. Alice Madisha
 Disabled People of South Africa – Mr. Herman Tsebe
 Master Builders of South Africa – Mr. Roy Mnisi
 South Africa Forum of Civil Engineers – Mr. Robert Simelane
 National African Federation Building Industry – Mr. Aubrey Tshalata
 Cape Peninsula University of Technology – Prof. Carva Pop
 University of Venda – Prof. Jason S. Ogola
 King Hintsa TVET College – Mr. Thabo Masombuka

The delegates were also addressed by the former Administrator of CETA, Mr. Themba Mhambi, who had visited UNIVEN with Ms. Sonja Pilusa, then Acting CEO on 11th September 2012 and offered UNIVEN seven projects worth R 22,000,000.00. Since then, CETA has supported new projects worth R 10,500,000.00. This month, CETA and UNIVEN had identified New Areas of Future Collaboration running from 2018 to 2020. The latest Agreement includes: Infrastructure Development, Research Development, Lecturer Development, Qualification Development, Programme Development, Learning Pathways through Discretionary Grants, and Accreditation of the UNIVEN Innovative Growth Company (UIGC)for it to participate in skills training supported by CETA.

The CETA Corporate Video was also displayed, followed by Presentations of the Financial Audit and Discussion as follows:

 Annual Financial Statement of the Accounting Authority for 2016/17 by Member of the Accounting Authority, Mr Piet Matosa;
 Annual Report of the Accounting Authority’s Affairs for 2016/17 by Member of the Accounting Authority, Mr. Webster Mfebe;
 Report of The Auditor General on the Accounting Authority for 2016/17 by Auditor General, Mr. Godfrey Diale; and
 Acceptance for recommendation to The Director General of the CETA’s Annual Budget and Annual Performance Plan (2018/19) by Member of the Accounting Authority, Mr. Mhbekani Ngcobo.

The function was concluded by CETA Executive Management Awards to the most successful stakeholders in implementing the CETA projects and also to those who presented the Highlights of CETA Performance. UNIVEN received an Award as “Most Innovative Rural Training Initiative-University of Venda.” As one of the Presenters, Prof. JS Ogola received an Award “You are in the Right Hands.”
