The University of Venda’s School of Health Sciences held a Capacity Building Workshop to re-orientate academic staff members and postgraduate students about research matters. The workshop took place from 28 January to 01 February 2019 at the University’s Research Conference Centre. 

Prof Livhuwani Nemathaga delivered the welcome and opening address. She acknowledged the dignitaries who were present from respective institutions and told the audience that the reason for this workshop is to re-orientate themselves on research matters. She expressed her sentiments on how honoured and proud she was when she realised that the two facilitators of the workshop are Univen graduates. 

Giving the purpose and introduction of the workshop was Prof Tsakane Lebese, a Research Professor at Univen School of Health Sciences. She highlighted that the purpose of the workshop was to enhance research knowledge and skills. She reassured both academics and postgraduate students that by the end of the workshop they would have acquired numerous knowledge and skills concerning research. The workshop was facilitated by Prof Mashudu Davhana-Maselesele and Prof Lufuno Makhado. The two interchangeably facilitated the programme throughout the five-day workshop on different aspects of how to put a research paper together. The workshop covered the scope of research that included Mixed methods; Theories; Concept analysis; Model development; Guidelines development Supervision and mentoring.
