Performance management system (PMS) is mechanism that is linked to University strategy and measure performance in ways that both promote positive future results and reflect past performance. Performance management is based on the philosophy of continuous improvement, learning and development; it recognizes the strategic importance of timeous performance planning, monitoring and evaluation. It ensures that employees are working towards achieving the University strategic objectives and annual performance plans (APPs). The University of Venda manages performance through an automated performance management system. The web-based system ensures real-time information availability and continuous synchronisation with ITS to update data.
