Biography

Associate Professor Lindelani Fhumudzani Mushaphi is an academic and researcher in the field of Nutrition with over 19 years of experience in higher education. She currently serves as the Deputy Dean for Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Venda.

Her scholarly expertise spans maternal and child nutrition, indigenous food systems, micronutrient nutrition, and non-communicable diseases. Over the years, she has made significant contributions to community-based nutrition research and has been involved in developing evidence-based interventions that promote healthy dietary practices in rural and urban communities.

Prof. Mushaphi has successfully supervised 19 master’s and 4 doctoral students to completion, contributing to the growth of the next generation of nutrition scientists. She is a Registered Dietitian with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and an active member of the Nutrition Society of South Africa (NSSA).

Her research outputs include several peer-reviewed journal articles on dietary patterns, indigenous food preservation, and infant feeding practices. Notable publications include studies in the Journal of Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutrition Bulletin, and Indilinga African Journal of Indigenous Knowledge Systems.
