It is with sincere appreciation that we announce the resignation of our Admin, Mr Tiyani Mboweni, the creative mind behind UNIVEN’s social media platforms, effective 31 October 2025.
Over the past two years, Mr Mboweni has been the driving force behind the University’s online presence, connecting our community and showcasing UNIVEN’s milestones with innovation, insight, and creativity.
A seasoned media and communications professional, Mr Mboweni brings extensive experience across higher education, government, and the private sector.
He holds a Master of Arts in Media Studies from the University of Limpopo, a qualification that has informed his strategic and analytical approach to communication.
Since joining UNIVEN, Mr Mboweni has led the development and execution of impactful social media strategies that significantly increased engagement across Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Under his leadership, UNIVEN’s Facebook following grew from 44,000 to 317,000, while TikTok followers rose from under 15,000 to over 172,000.
As Administrator of the University’s social media accounts, Mr. Mboweni played a pivotal role in amplifying UNIVEN’s voice and connecting its community through authentic and inspiring storytelling. Through innovative campaigns, audience-focused content, and data-driven insights, he transformed UNIVEN’s digital platforms into powerful tools for student engagement, brand visibility, and community connection.
Mr Percy Ngobeli, UNIVEN Advancement Unit Manager, shared, “Mr Mboweni’s creativity, professionalism, and dedication have elevated UNIVEN’s digital footprint to new heights. His passion for telling authentic university stories has strengthened our brand and deepened engagement with our stakeholders. We are truly grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best in his next chapter.”
A UNIVEN student, Mr Sthembiso Boroko, added, “Through his work, we always felt connected to what was happening at our university. He made UNIVEN come alive online, from campus events to student achievements. We will miss his creative touch and the energy he brought to every story.”
As he bids farewell, Mr Mboweni expressed his gratitude, “I am sincerely grateful for the incredible support I have received from my Director of Marketing, Branding and Communication, Dr Takalani Dzaga. His inspiring leadership and genuine passion for seeing the UNIVEN brand grow and shine as a leading institution in higher education have motivated me every day. My special thanks also go to our Chief Operating Officer, Mr Botwe Kraziya, who has been my top fan and an enthusiastic supporter of UNIVEN’s digital platforms. His pride in following all our social media networks and his constant encouragement meant a great deal to me. Lastly, I thank the entire university community for their collaboration, which allowed me to do my work with purpose and passion.”
Mr Mboweni’s professionalism, creativity, and dedication have left a lasting mark on UNIVEN.
As he embarks on a new professional journey, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for his remarkable contributions and wish him continued success and fulfilment in all his future endeavours.
