The Directorate of Research and Innovation held a Customised Intervention Grant Briefing Workshop at 2Ten Hotel, Sibasa recently. In his official opening address, Senior Professor Georges Ekosse, Director of Research and Innovation highlighted the purpose of the Customised Intervention Grant which is to develop research capacity in early-career academics focusing mainly on black (African, Coloured, Indian/Asian) women researchers, in order to increase the number of established female researchers.

The Customised Intervention Grant at UNIVEN aims to make a contribution to the transformation of the research landscape of the country by increasing the number of established female researchers.

There is an oversight committee consisting of Senior Prof GE Ekosse (Chairperson of the Oversight Committee; NRF C1 rated), Prof Pascal Bessong (NRF C1 rated; Research Professor School of Mathematical & Natural Sciences), Prof Natasha Potgieter (NRF C2 rated; Professor and Dean of the School of Mathematical & Natural Sciences), Prof Sonto Maputle (NRF C3 rated, Professor School of Health Sciences) and Dr Marizvikuru Mwale (NRF Y2 rated: Senior Lecturer School of Agriculture). The timeframe for the Customised Intervention Grant project extends to 31 August 2019.
