On 18 May 2026, the spirit of compassion and partnership filled the CHETL Boardroom at the University of Venda as ABSA Bank officially handed over a donation to the Thoho Ya Nzie Student Welfare Programme. The event marked more than a ceremonial occasion; it symbolised a shared commitment towards uplifting students and restoring hope to those facing financial and social hardships. Distinguished university officials, student leaders, and representatives from ABSA gathered to celebrate an initiative aimed at strengthening student welfare and promoting academic success. Through heartfelt speeches and words of appreciation, the programme reflected the power of collaboration between higher education institutions and corporate stakeholders in building a brighter and more inclusive future for young people.

He noted that initiatives such as the university’s breakfast drive play a vital role in ensuring that students write examinations with dignity and focus.

Mr Mogale further emphasised the importance of partnerships that uplift disadvantaged students and contribute towards academic success, student wellbeing, and long-term social transformation. He added that many students remain hopeful and continue with their aca-demic journey because of the support received from caring stakeholders and institutions.
