Ms Tshianeo Ndou, a second year MSc student in the School of Environmental Sciences won an award to participate in a short course on “Measuring Ecosystem Services & Essential Biodiversity Variables” which was organized by JRS Biodiversity Foundation. The JRS Biodiversity Foundation is an independent grant-making foundation in sub-Saharan Africa. The course took place at the University of Rwanda Kigali from 16th – 26th September 2019. Though the course was opened to Africa-based participants from eight countries in East Africa, an exception was made to accommodate her.

Upon arrival back at UNIVEN, Ms. Ndou was congratulated by Senior Professor GE Ekosse, Director of Research and Innovation. Senior Prof Ekosse commended her for taking the initiative on her own to search for scholarly opportunities that assist in advancing her career growth and development. Ms. Ndou believes that this course exposed her internationally into a networking interaction with the scientists in the field of Geography and Biodiversity.
