As announced by the President of the Republic, Dr Cyril Ramaphosa, on Sunday 28 November 2021, the new variant, called Omicron is now in all provinces in South Africa. To avoid losing more lives during the fourth wave, staff and students are encouraged to vaccinate. COVID-19 vaccines have scientifically been proven to save lives. Staff and students are further advised to always practice safety measures to minimise the spread of COVID-19 and to protect ourselves and others from being infected. Let us all play our respective roles to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

This communique serves to inform members of the University Community that there are currently five active cases of COVID-19. These are all students. All five students are in isolation. Management is urging all staff and students to please observe all COVID-19 Protocols both on and off campus and to act responsibly at all times. Staff and students are also encouraged to vaccinate.

For inquiries regarding the nearest vaccination centres, kindly contact Head of Campus Health, Ms Faith Mashau on 015 962 9157 or send an email to faith.mashau@univen.ac.za
