Dr Olusegun Obadire Director: International Relations and Partnerships

Olusegun Obadire obtained PhD in Rural Development in 2014; a Masters in Rural Development in 2010 from the University of Venda, South Africa; BSc Combined Honours in Computer Science and Economics, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria in 1996. He has part of his professional education at the Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands, where he studies Leadership and Management in Higher Education Institutions in 2010. He started working as international education administrator and practitioner in 2011 and was appointed the Chief Administrative Officer in 2012 and later was appointed the Acting Director International Relations at the University of Venda in 2017. Prior to that appointment he has worked as a Senior Technical Officer at the Computer Centre, Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, 1997-2006. 

He has also worked as a Rector, Madzahisi VTFET College, South Africa, 2010-2011. Apart from his administrative position, Segun is involved in teaching, learning and research activities as promoter, supervisor, external examiner, reviewer, principal investigator and lecturer, teaching Entrepreneurship and other courses. He has graduated one PhD, 3 masters and 20 honours students since 2014 and currently promoting one PhD and 2 Masters students from both Institute for Rural Development and the Institute for Gender and Youth Development. He has published about 36 articles in accredited journals in internationalisation of higher education, rural and community development. He has presented, chaired sessions, and presented keynote addresses at over 14 conferences around the world since 2012. 

Dr Obadire was appointed as External Examiner by the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), South Africa in 2018. He was certified by the Huawei International Ltd. as Big data Instructor for University students and has trained students from UNIVEN, University of Limpopo, Solplatje University and Vhembe VTFET College. He mentors LL.M students from the University of Pretoria on Human rights and democratisation and several other internal students yearly. He has been Principal and co-Principal investigator for both internal and external granted projects on several occasions. His research work is mainly focusing on integration of intercultural programmes, internationalisation of higher education, rural entrepreneurships as well as Rural Development, Training and Development; Cross-Cultural Training; Economic Development and Social Change; Global Issues; Leadership; Collaboration; Diversity Issues; Planning, Development, and Implementation. ​
