On 31 October 2025, the University of Venda’s Department of Marketing, Branding and Communication hosted a heartfelt farewell for Mr Tiyani Mboweni, the outgoing Social Media Officer, at the ICT Boardroom in the Main Administration Building. The event celebrated his exceptional contribution, dedication, and commitment to advancing the university’s digital presence and public image.

In his remarks, Dr Takalani Dzaga, Director of Marketing, Branding and Communication, expressed both pride and sadness at Mr Mboweni’s departure. He commended him for his professionalism, creativity, and integrity, describing him as a pioneer who set the standard for the Social Media Officer role at UNIVEN. Dr Dzaga highlighted how Mr Mboweni’s innovative ideas and proactive approach significantly enhanced the university’s online visibility and stakeholder engagement.

Dr Dzaga encouraged fellow colleagues to emulate Mr Mboweni by promoting teamwork, collaboration, and alignment with the university’s strategic vision. He concluded by urging Mr Mboweni to continue serving as a proud ambassador for the University of Venda in his future endeavours and to remain connected with his former colleagues.

In his response, Mr Mboweni expressed deep gratitude to Dr Dzaga, his colleagues, and the entire department for their support, mentorship, and camaraderie throughout his tenure. Reflecting on his role, he spoke of his commitment to representing the university with integrity through social media and shared how moved he was by the overwhelming messages of support received following his farewell announcement. Mr Mboweni concluded by expressing confidence in the department’s continued growth and success.

To mark the occasion, university photographers captured group photos to be shared on social media in honour of Mr Mboweni’s service. The farewell concluded with warm applause, laughter, and heartfelt wishes as colleagues celebrated the achievements of a trailblaser embarking on a new chapter of his career.
