Interim Director

Ademola Oluborode Jegede (LLM, UP; LLD, UP) is a Professor of Law and the Interim Director of Ismail Mahomed Centre for Human and Peoples’ Rights, Faculty of Management Commerce & Law, University of Venda, Thohoyandou, South Africa. He is a NRF rated researcher and holds his degrees from Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, University of Ibadan, and the Centre for Human Rights, Fac­ulty of Law, University of Pretoria, South Africa. He has been a research visitor to reputable Centres and Institutes including the Centre for Inter­national Environmental Law, USA and Human Rights Institute at Abo Akademi, Finland. His research and teaching interests focus on the interface of climate change and biodiversity loss with human rights of vulnerable groups and general international human rights law. His extensive writings on these themes include the book: The climate change regulatory framework and indigenous peoples’ lands in Africa: Human rights implications (Pretoria University Law Press 2016); and the coedited books, Human rights and the environment under African Union Law (Palgrave, 2020); and Climate change justice and human rights: An African Perspective (Pretoria University Law Press 2022). He is the Initiator and Convening editor of African Journal of Climate Law & Justice
