The Unit is committed to promoting equal access, inclusion, and academic success for students with disabilities. Our services are designed to support the diverse needs of students in a dignified, respectful, and confidential manner.
Our Mission
To ensure students with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in all aspects of university life through reasonable accommodations, support, and advocacy.
Services Offered
Academic Support
Extended time for tests and exams
- Alternative test/exam venues
- Braille, audio, and enlarged print materials
- Train students on how to use adapted technology/assistive devices
Assistive Technology
- JAWS, NVDA, Openbook, Duxbury and Fusion screen readers
- Portable and Desktop Screen magnifiers
- Text-to-speech tools
- Accessible computer labs
Psychosocial and Emotional Support
- Career guidance and counselling.
- One-on-one consultations
Advocacy and Awareness
- Support in liaising with lecturers and departments
- Disability awareness workshops
- Promotion of an inclusive learning environment
Students are encouraged to register with the Disability Unit as early as possible. To register:
- Submit medical documentation.
- Complete the needs assessment form.
- Attend a consultation meeting.
